      George S. Winzler, Consulting Engineers is established in Eureka, California with John Winzler as the only employee. Total capitalization is $500, which is used to purchase survey equipment. John donates his car, with over 135,000 miles on it, to the cause.

      John Winzler and Bob Kelly graduate with honors from the University of California at Berkeley. John persuades his father to start an engineering firm in Humboldt County.

      George S. Winzler, Consulting Engineers moved from a one-room office to a new two-room office at 730 5th Street, Eureka, CA.

      George S. Winzler, Consulting Engineers provides engineering services for the City of Eureka's 20 million gallon reservoir near Sequoia Park. George S. Winzler is pictured second from the right. Our corporate history is grounded in service to local communities like the City.

      A northern California earthquake does significant damage to buildings in Eureka. John Winzler’s background in structural engineering allows the firm to perform many structural assessments and repairs.

      A flood decimates the roadway systems of Del Norte, Humboldt, and Mendocino Counties. Winzler & Winzler is selected by Humboldt County to engineer and manage the entire Non-FAS road system repairs with a contract value around $10 million. Many repair projects are completed in a “design build” fashion with the help of local timber companies.

      John Winzler secures his engineering license and Winzler & Winzler is established.

      As a local firm with a strong reputation for client service, Winzler, Winzler, & Kelly is retained by the newly formed Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District to serve as District Engineer, where we contribute to and oversee the design work of other consulting firms. This close client relationship continues to this day.

      Winzler, Winzler, & Kelly is retained as the City of Fortuna’s Engineer, establishing a long tradition of serving as City or District Engineer for small communities along California’s North Coast.

      Winzler, Winzler, & Kelly is established when Bob Kelly returns from the Korean War. Bob serves as Chief Engineer for nearly 50 years, contributing to our offices in Eureka, Reno, Anchorage, Santa Rosa, and San Francisco. He advises the firm until his passing in 2005.

      Building on local relationships and a strong understanding of grant funding programs, Winzler, Winzler, & Kelly provides full service engineering for small sanitation districts in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties.

      Winzler, Winzler, & Kelly becomes the primary engineering consultant for Six Rivers National Forest.
